Robin Meyer is a multidisciplinary artist that works in sculpture, painting, illustration, and design. She is a long time contributor to the local art scene. You can find more of her masks here or even commission one.
“Although sculpture is inherently tactile in nature it’s not often that we can do anything but look at it. Masks, however, break down this barrier and allow us to fully appreciate the piece by wearing it.
I think that’s why they entrance me and why I keep making them. They let us explore art through more than just sight. Certainly you can appreciate a mask on a wall to great effect, but you gain a whole new level of experience by wearing one, by feeling its weight, its shape, and how it moves with you.
“Masks are, in essence, wearable sculptures.”
