Arcadia grew out of the heart of Ames, Iowa. It is situated on the west edge of Campus Town, just a short walk from Iowa State University, and between Sheldon Ave. and Hyland Ave. We neighbor Chinese Home Style Cooking and Nikki Nails.
The wood of our tables was marked for the firewood pile. Felled in Rock Island, Illinois, they’ve come a long way to become the tabletops in our humble café. You’ll find that each one is unique, concealing a long history with in its rings (We’ve tried to count the rings but we keep on getting lost.) What kinds of trees they are is a matter of debate. Some say soft elm, some say cedar, others red elm. We’d love for someone to come in and help us settle the matter.
At Arcadia we provide complementary wireless internet. No annoying login pages and no monthly, weekly, or daily fees. Peruse your email, stay connected on social networks, search the web, all while sitting down with your favorite handcrafted cup of coffee. We also provide outlets for laptops so you can hole up here for the long haul.
Arcadia’s walls will now be graced with the work of Ames based artists. With Iowa State University’s College of Art & Design only a block away, and hundreds of dedicated artists in and around Ames it only makes sense to use our walls as a gallery. Not only does it support local arts and crafts, but it makes the place look great too.
